About Us

The Jackson County 911 Communications Center was relocated from the Jackson County Courthouse to its current location, 100 Maple Street, in July 1996.

The Center has progressed significantly from a radio, a pad of paper, and one dispatcher per shift.

Thanks to the past and present 911 Directors and the support of a visionary County Commission, we now have a modern facility with consoles, radios, and a CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system. The center has a minimum of two dispatchers per twelve hour shift. There are currently eight full time dispatchers and three part time dispatchers. The Center dispatches for five volunteer fire departments, five law enforcement agencies, and for the Jackson County EMS which maintains three stations in the county.

As you tour our web site you will see the call volume for the center, the call volume only shows the number of calls dispatched each month, however there are hundreds of phone calls answered by our dispatch staff daily.

The Centers Administrative Office is in charge of assigning addresses, mapping, naming roads, and issuing development permits for Jackson County.

We invite anyone who has a question or who would like to tour the Jackson County 911 Communications Center to contact us via this web site or call us at 304-373-2208.
